Quails

I'm curious if anyone in this group is keeping quails for eggs. What's your experience been, would you recommend them as an alternative to chickens? How big of a space do you have for how many birds? I've been reading that they are very good egg producers, take up less space and are quieter and cleaner than chickens, but it would be great to hear about someones experience first-hand.We've been keeping chickens for almost five years but it might be fun to try something new. Thanks for any…See More

The Main Street Neighbourhood village is holding our monthly potluck dinner and presentation tonight (Tuesday, 7 June) at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House on Main Street at 24th Ave (adjacent to the library).  Dinner and a free seed and food plant seedling giveaway start at 6:00 and then an urban gardening presentation and discussion begins at 7 for about an hour.  Come and stay as long as you want, or just drop by at any time.

See the full event description here.

Hi Caitlin,

Great! I was going to contact Chris (and you) re: talking about the tool library. If one of you is coming for sure (and definitely wants to talk about it), let me know, and we can add it to the agenda; otherwise we can play it by ear. Could I get you guys to RSVP on the events page - it's OK to indicate "maybe" for now if that's your best guess -  the convenors are trying to get a sense of how many people might come, as the meeting may end up moving to a slightly larger space if need be.

Cheers,

Ross

Hey Caitlin,

Just saw your request to join Built Environment - you're in! And that you joined Local Economy. Welcome to both.

BE doesn't have a convenor yet, so it's pretty quiet there at the moment - we're hoping to schedule a potluck/meeting in February so people can meet one another and get some momentum going. Any ideas you have are most welocme.

On the other hand, things are definitely hopping in Local Economy; if you're free, come to the meeting on Thursday -  it'll  be in Grandview Woodland village; details should be going out in the next day or two to LE Network members.

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!

Cheers,

Ross

Caitlin,
I hope you are finished with school now and looking forward to graduation in a month. School can seem like a long haul, but the rest of life is of course another scale altogether. We hope Village Vancouver can help you to make your next steps into an interesting, enjoyable, and long life. Come to our next potluck in May and get involved in Main Street's CarFree Day.

Welcome, Caitlin!

As you can see, we are just beginning to build an on-line community for Village Vancouver, and organize our extensive activities more openly and collaboratively through this site. Please feel free to contribute to a discussion, attend or even enter a new event, join a working group, or even form a Village.

Also, update your home page here with some brief comments about your interests or a a short bio. This will help us all connect with people with similar interests in transition or other activities.

Just up the hill from you, the Main Street Neighbourhood village, led by Anna Chase, is in full swing. We have monthly potlucks, seed sharing, gardening and local (2-block) food coops, and we are looking to add more activities this summer. We plan to be a big force at this June's CarFree Day on Main Street, with a whole village set up on the road.

Please join the Main Street Neighbourhood village next Sunday, the 28th, for a potluck and garden planning/seed-sharing/summer activities planning session at 22nd and Ontario. Join the Main Street Neighbourhood group page to find out more. Membership in this local group is moderated to improve privacy and ensure better local connections between neighbours.
