Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Thank you to the hundreds who joined us at Langara College’s Summer School on Building Community, held from June 16th to 27th, 2009! The 2010 Summer School will be held from June 14th-25th, and VV will be a co-sponsor for the 3rd year.
Many events, workshops, seminars, and tours were and will continue to be free or by donation.
VV presented several offerings last year. Langara’s Continuing Studies Community Development Program Coordinator and VV Steering Committee member Leslie Kemp spearheaded 12 full days of events
Last summer’s offerings were the largest and most extensive in Langara’s history, and the most diverse and holistic of all community-building short-course curricula in the Lower Mainland. This year's programming is expected to exceed this, and will include many Transition Town oriented offerings.
This is a true festival of learning: workshops, presentations, tours, dialogues, and films which provide an array of opportunities to deepen your knowledge and understanding of the critical social and environmental issues of our day and to inspire you to take action.
Activists also need to take care of themselves: sessions will be offered on self-care which will help you increase your effectiveness in your work and life.
The Summer School is for anyone who wants to build healthy, sustainable, and resilient communities: neighbourhod transition village and working group members other community members, activists, and those involved with non-profits, unions, students, youth, faith based groups, aboriginal groups, government and business.
Location: Langara College, 100 West 49 Avenue, between Main and Cambie Streets in the south central area of Vancouver, unless otherwise noted.
VIllage Vancouver engages individuals and organizations to take actions that build sustainable communities, and have fun doing it. Join us!
