Jethro's - Potential in adjacent lot?

We have been eying up the gravel lot north of Jethro's (with the advertisement Bulletin Board), and wondering:   Could this lot become a more inviting piazza where neighbors gather as they wait for their "'Nana Cakes" or enjoy a DairyQueen "blizzard"?  The space is currently void of activity, but we see potential in it.  Does anyone know who owns this property? Does anyone have ideas for how we could bring it to life as a community?See More

Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Dunbar
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
All of it!
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Yes. I have an architectural background and am currently working as a sustainability consultant for building projects. I'm also passionate about fitness and health and enjoy anything outdoorsy. I'd be happy to participate in anything that falls into those categories.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
A bigger emphasis on passive design within the building community.

We're doing quite a lot. Next Thursday is our next event. A movie night showing the Economics of Happiness. We hold the movie nights at St. Philips church on 27th at Highbury.
