Permaculture Village

Transition is based on, and inspired by,  Permaculture principles. Permaculture is permanent agriculture and permanent culture. We will be approaching 'creating sustainable habitat' in many different ways: regular design & demonstration projects; Social permaculture; workshops. Permablitzes, Blitzes or Permaculture Energy Transfer or Pet Day are days that we go on site collectively create systems which cycle energy toward win win win economy. Food forests provide abundant gardens and parks…See More

Hi Sonja,

I was recently speaking with a woman who lives in a social housing co-op in the DTES and she was talking about how tragic it is that virtually every unit in the building has some balcony space, but hardly anyone is growing their own food. Then I remembered that you seem to have some knowledge about balcony gardening and building self-watering planters, and am wondering whether you might be interested in helping run a workshop for the residents of that co-op who would like to learn to use their balconies to augment their food supply. Could be a neighbourhood small grant project, using some of the funds to supply the workshop participants with materials they need to get started. Please let me know what you think of this idea, or if you know of anyone else who might be able to help with this.

Thanks!

Jordan
