In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
New Wesminster
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Growing more food and urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy, Permaculture, energy efficient buildings and low impact building, building community and organizing events.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I am interested in food growing groups, low impact building, permaculture, transport and event organizing.
My skills are: audio and video editing, music composition, organizing events, sound engineering, DTP, creating images and photography, as well as working hard, growing food, coppicing, and event organizing.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I would like to see the first Transition Town's School. A self sufficient project that focuses on educating people on sustainable agriculture by growing food for the school, creating renewable energy that would power the school and seasonal events to build community within and outside of the school. I believe a school of this type could be an example of what we hope to achieve on a larger scale with our communities. I have more ideas for the infrastructure, and would love to work with others to bring this about.
I agree to read and abide by the Site Guidelines under the About tab on the navigation bar, remaining respectful in all communications on this web site.

Don't feel like answering all the questions now? No worries, just tell us briefly why you're interested in joining at this time, and you can come back and update your profile later.
I am very interested in being a part of Village Vancouver. I started the Transition Towns movement in my home town, Swansea in the UK and feel that the movement could be the solution to a sustainable future. I am keen to meet others and be a part of the change here in Vancouver.

I'll get back to you as soon as things are more concrete.

Hey Sara,

Welcome to Village and great that you're interested in getting involved. Let's chat. We've run a Transition School for the last 6 summers and I'd be very interested in hearing your ideas. It would also be cool to see a New West village get started.

Cheers,
Ross
