Permaculture Village

Transition is based on, and inspired by,  Permaculture principles. Permaculture is permanent agriculture and permanent culture. We will be approaching 'creating sustainable habitat' in many different ways: regular design & demonstration projects; Social permaculture; workshops. Permablitzes, Blitzes or Permaculture Energy Transfer or Pet Day are days that we go on site collectively create systems which cycle energy toward win win win economy. Food forests provide abundant gardens and parks…See More

Why degrowth? Dialogue on a pathways towards a smaller economyApril 16th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm Strut Studios: Ste: 203 - 910 Richards St., Vancouver, BC V6B 6K5While most political and media dialogue on the health of our society focuses on how to stimulate and distribute the benefits of an ever larger economy, there’s increasing reasons to think the structure of the 20th century economy may have been an historical anomaly. What is the scientific evidence as to why our economy won’t continue to…See More

Can Eco-Density Reduce Our Ecological Footprint? at Britannia Community Services Centre - 1661 Napier Street

February 18, 2014 from 7pm to 8pm
One of the central pillars of planning for ecological sustainability in a metropolitan environment has become increased urban density. In Vancouver, the potential ecological benefits of higher density has become a key justification for many new condo developments. However, the unintended consequences of increased density have the potential to dramatically scale up an urban region's ecological footprint. Please join us for a panel discussion on this interesting and nuanced debate. Are Downtown…See More

Hi Justin,

I am from the Local Economy Network, and I am contacting you because on Feb. 13th I am planning a workshop on community currencies together with LETS and Community Way founder Michael Linton. I was just speaking to Ann Pacey who suggested getting in touch with you about possibly booking a locale in which to hold this presentation at UBC. Please let me know if you think this is possible. We were thinking of holding the workshop between about 1pm-4pm on Sunday, Feb. 13th, and we should aim for 30-50 participants.

Please feel free to give me a call at 778-866-4451 to discuss. Thanks!

Jordan

Hi Justin
We're holding our first Dunbar movie night tomorrow at the St. Philips Church Fireside on 27th and Highbury, from 7 to 9. The film is The Turning Point - which takes an inspiring look at our potential to create a life-sustaining society as we face the twin challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change.
We'll have time for socializing and discussion after the movie so I hope you can make it. Donation suggested.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. We want to show the church and the Dunbar community that Transition has great grassroots support.
Thanks Ann

Hi Justin,
I'm in the FNH program at UBC and I'm doing a research project on Village Vancouver I was wondering if it would be possible to either sit down with you or email you some questions I have specifically about the new UBC initiative.
Thanks!
