Vancouver wants to become the greenest in the world, but will any of the Greenest City Action Plan strategies make a difference? Join us for an evening of discussion about ideas and actions as we explore multiple perspectives on how our community could actually reduce its ecological footprint.
Leave the greenwash at home, and meet a panel of experts with real figures on our ecological footprint and real solutions to a global problem.
Our panel:
Jennie Moore has studied the city's ecological footprint in-depth and is currently working on improving education around these issues as Director Sustainable Development and Environmental Stewardship at British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Donnie Maclurcan is co-founder of the Post Growth Institute, an international group exploring inspiring paths to global prosperity that don't rely on economic growth.
Gregor Macdonald is a journalist and energy analyst who has written for The Economist Intelligence Unit, The Financial Times of London, The Harvard Business Review, The Oil Drum, and The Petroleum Economist among others. He has appeared on MSNBC in the United States, BNN in Toronto, and the Keiser Report out of London. Gregor will be joining us by Skype from Portland, OR.
Conrad Schmidt is a social activist, filmmaker and writer of books such as Alternatives to Growth: Efficiency Shifting and Workers of the World Relax. In addition to coordinating the Work Less Party of BC and the World Naked Bike Ride he also hosts numerous events that keeps our city from turning into a ghost town.
Village Vancouver Co-Founder and former industrial development expert Randy Chatterjee will set the scene and moderate the discussion following the presentations.
Hosted by the Work Less Party of BC and The Extraenvironmentalist
