Permaculture Village

Transition is based on, and inspired by,  Permaculture principles. Permaculture is permanent agriculture and permanent culture. We will be approaching 'creating sustainable habitat' in many different ways: regular design & demonstration projects; Social permaculture; workshops. Permablitzes, Blitzes or Permaculture Energy Transfer or Pet Day are days that we go on site collectively create systems which cycle energy toward win win win economy. Food forests provide abundant gardens and parks…See More

Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Richmond
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Natural and sustainable building, permaculture, urban agriculture, climate change, spirituality, community building and development, community relationships, water conservation and protection, potlucks, financial equality and a means to make healthy, organic, natural, and local produce available to all incomes.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I'd love to participate in any cob building workshops, or any form of sustainable/natural/permaculture building, urban gardening, farming, and agriculture, projects and pow-wows concerning water conservation and the state of our water table, how it's allotted, cleaned, distributed, etc., petitioning and peace protesting, activism, etc. While my knowledge level is still pretty new regarding all of this, I have a very strong work ethic, and sense of commitment. I have an extensive background in construction, a passion for sustainable and renewable resources, a background in environmental fluid solutions, and am currently enrolled for Camosun's Environmental Technology program next September. As a member of the Lower Mainland Green Team, I'm starting to recognize different species of native and foreign fauna! I am passionate about the evolution and connection of our relationships concerning our environment, just as passionately concerning our spiritual evolution and awakenings. Have spent a lot of time reflecting and discussing - I'm ready for action!!!
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
More green-space, more frequent local markets.
