Garden Group in South Burnaby seeks members at South Burnaby

April 2, 2014 to September 20, 2014
A wonderful little Garden Group in South Burnaby may have a few spots open this year. We share one large garden (1000 sq ft) with a 200 sq ft greenhouse, share the costs, the work, and the fabulous organic produce! We each water once a week, and we meet for various work parties and potluck lunches. Easily accessible from East Van, South Van, Burnaby, New West. We call our place THE GRATITUDE GARDEN because it truly is an oasis of peace and calm - no power, no noise, just the birds and bees and…See More

Invitation to Join Community Garden Group in South Burnaby!!!

Several of us participate in a "Community Garden" group, collectively doing organic gardening on a 1000 sq ft plot in South Burnaby as part of a 14 acre Community Garden. There is a 200 sq ft greenhouse on our plot - perfect for the 35 tomato and 30 cucumber plants we grow, along with many other things inside AND outside - squash, lettuce, arugula, kale, beets, carrots, peas, beans, peppers, broccoli, swiss chard, bok choy, etc. We also grow enough flowers for everyone to collect bouquets every…See More

VILLAGE BURNABY - INVITATION to JOIN IN A COMMUNITY GARDEN!!!

Several of us in the group are part of a Community Garden group, collectively doing organic gardening on a 1000 sq ft plot in South Burnaby as part of a 14 acre Community Garden. We also grow enough flowers for everyone to collect bouquets every week! What would YOU like to grow?

Would you like to join us this year? The commitment is typically a once a week visit to water/weed for an hour, plus some 3 hour work parties to get the garden going and some random volunteer work parties spread out over the next 6 months. You don't need to live near South Burnaby - many participants have come from further afield and found it manageable. (The location is near SE Marine and Byrne Road)

It costs a fee to join for the year - and you get 6 months of participation in the magic and mystery of watching tiny seeds grow into something enormous! There is abundant food and hundreds of flowers to share, as the soil and sunny south location is ideal for gardening. The fees cover the plot rental, tools, use of greenhouse, fertilizers, seeds, seedlings, plants, flowers, stakes, materials, supplies, replacement seedlings as the season unfolds, etc. I subsidize the whole thing so it's possible for people to have this experience, and to be able to take home delicious organic produce all season long. My main goal is to share the abundance!

I am happy to tour you around the site whenever you like.

You can come and see what’s happening at our first gardening dates:

Saturday, April 7th 9:30 – 12:30 am (Easter)
Saturday, April 14th 9 – 12 noon
