Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Kensington-Cedar Cottage, Riley Park-South Cambie, Other (indicate below)
If you don't live in Vancouver or are in another neighbourhood or community we did not list, please tell us where home is.
Prince Edward St corner King Edward, Vancouver
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
I love the idea of relocalizing and community building. Reconnecting with our neighbours and enriching the social fabric where we live. Encouraging people to vacation locally to reduce their emission, reconnecting with natural ecosystems, growing our own food, etc. And in general, reducing our impact on the environment through behavioural changes.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I am one of the coordinators for CROWS Point Community Garden. I have a keen interest in communications, outreach and social psychology. I have a background in program coordination, environmental education and illustration.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
Hosting neighbourhood events to connect people in the neighbourhood as a first step.

Welcome to Village, Celina - glad you've joined!

If you wish, you can add your neighbourhood or neighbourhoods, in "settings", and then checking off the appropriate box or boxes. In your case, you live in Main St. Neighbourhood village, so you could choose to check off Riley Park/So. Cambie. You're also close to a new Village -- Mtn. View . You can find it under Villages.) And Crows Point is in Cedar Cottage, so Transition Cedar Cottage is also an option, as is nearby Nanaimo Renfrew Village;can be found under Villages. Grant Watson convenes; you might know him?

I sometimes get a glimpse of Crows Point from Skytrain. How are things going there?

If you have any questions, let us know.

Cheers,
Ross
