Are you intrigued about fermenting? Learn about several options in this Village Vancouver Eldergreens workshop, including veggie fermenting (sauerkraut and local seasonal ferments), water kefir, milk kefir, and kombucha. Find out what's involved, what equipment you need, where to find supplies and ingredients, and how much time and space it takes. We'll have a community seed library there - pick up some free seeds for your garden, or swap or donate seeds.
Adults/families w/children 10 yrs+ are welcome - minors must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Organized and led by seniors, VV ElderGreens brings seniors, youth and others together to share food & gardening skills and wisdom through workshops and other activities. All ages welcome, please contact us if you're interested in getting involved.
ABERTHAU GARDEN PROJECT Located behind the Mansion, off of NW Marine Dr, & hosted by Village Vancouver, the garden includes VV’s Demonstration Permaculture Garden, the WPG Preschool Garden and art/garden projects by artists-in-residence LocoMotoArt: Laura Lee Coles and Rob Scharein. Emphasizing permaculture design elements, including a small hugelkultur, an herb spiral, planting pollinator attractants, and saving open pollinated seeds, the garden offers fun, inclusive social, educational, culinary and cultural activities for community members. Enjoy free/low-cost Wednesday evening cooking, fermenting & preserving demonstrations, inc. sauerkraut, kefir, gardening workshops like early summer gardening, native edibles walks and the seed savers club. In the garden, newer gardeners garden collaboratively alongside more experienced gardeners at our Saturday work parties, providing a learning experience for everyone. For more info/to get involved in the garden visit our Aberthau Garden Project page or email Ross Moster at [email protected].
