In this Village Vancouver ElderGreens workshop with Alyssa Kohlman from Fermentoring, you'll learn to how make East Van Chi, a unique veggie fermentation customized to East Vancouver. It combines elements of traditional Korean kimchi, while incorporating as many local and seasonal vegetables as possible. East Van Chi is probiotic, raw, and paleo-friendly, and a vegan option is available.
You'll be fully active in creating the fermentation (wear clothes you don't mind preparing food in), and take home a jar customized to your level of spice tolerance. Bring any of the following items that you wish to: cutting board, large knife, kitchen scissors, large bowl or tub, 500mL wide-mouth jar and lid.
Adults and families with children 10 years and older are welcome. All minors must be accompanied by a caregiver. We'll have a Community Seed Library present - you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds.
Register by 5:30 pm, Thursday, April 20. Limited space. Register here or by email: ross@villagevancouver.ca. By donation ($0 - $10), plus a $7 materials fee. Free for Seniors (50 and over).
