Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Come help Zero Waste Vancouver make bundles of matching Market Bags using old sheets. At the Zero Waste Bag Factory we offer machines, materials and basic instruction if you need it. Make one set of bags for yourself, and then some more for us to sell this summer at Farmers Markets. It's dead easy and lots of fun.

Hi Sharon ~ this is exactly the arrangement that people are working with. You can email me offline () and we can arrange a time to go through the drill on how to make the bags. Anyone else reading this and interested in sitting in, please send me email -- we can accommodate up to 4 people at once!

Hurray!

Hi Helen, I would be interested in learning how to do this then firing up my own machine and getting it back in service.

Hi Mary (and others) ~ The situation is this: I have four machines set up in the back room in our basement in Cedar Cottage. The schedule for sewing sessions is based on folks' convenience. (I have a couple people coming this afternoon, for instance.) This is growing out of a workshop series I taught at the Mt. Pleasant Community Centre last month, where I taught people the basic steps to make a set of bags. It turns out to be easier to leave the machines set up here than to set them up each week at the community centre. If you wanted to, you could also take some sheets home and make some bags on your own machine -- one of our volunteers is doing that.
