Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
We're launching a tool lending library in East Vancouver - The Vancouver Tool Library (VTL) is still in the development stages, so we haven't opened our doors yet, but when we do we will be equipped with tools for home repair and renovation, gardening work, and bicycle maintenance, and will loan them to our members free of charge. We're also planning to run workshops and community events, once we get our feet on the ground.
Find out more at our website vancouvertoollibrary.com or facebook page for more info, or email [email protected]. We'd love your feedback, are looking for more people to get involved, and we're really excited to get to work in our community! Feel free to circulate widely.
Thanks so much,
Caitlin & The VTL Steering Committee

Hi Helen - thanks so much for making the plug and for your interest in our co-op! Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, things have been so busy this month with preparations for the tool library, grant applications etc. I'll get back to you by email in regards to your feedback on our volunteer form.
Until then,
Caitlin & the VTL
Hi Jordan!
Thanks so much for your message. We have been so encouraged by all the positive feedback we've received since we launched the website on Wednesday, and are so happy that the project is gaining resonance in the community!
We have actually been meaning to come to a local economy for some time so thanks for the invitation. I'm not sure if the whole committee will be able to make it, but myself and Chris Diplock will certainly attend to talk to everyone about the VTL and find out about the other work your group is doing.
Let us know where the meeting is - [email protected]

Hi Caitlin,
I think that this is a super initiative and I applaud you for having taken it! I am from VV's Local Economy Network, where the idea of a tool sharing library has been discussed at various times as a potential worthwhile project that falls within the realm of localising the economy. I'm sure that there are several people in our group that would be interested in helping out in some way, and I will certainly spread the word!
This may not be possible especially due to the short notice, but I just wanted to throw out there that the Local Economy Network will be holding its next monthly meeting on Monday, April 4th from 6pm-8pm in Kitsilano. We would be overjoyed if you would like to stop by and talk with us for a little while about this project, how it came to be and how we could get involved. If not, no worries - I will do my best to promote this to our group members, and perhaps we could hear from you at a future meeting to learn some of what you are learning in the undertaking of this project. Either way, you can get in touch with me at jordanbober[at]hotmail.com.
Thanks!
Jordan
