Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

My name is Deb and I am the chair of the sustainability committee at one of the residence areas at UBC. Join me as I share student initiatives taking place to help build a more sustainable community here at UBC.

This month we are planning a sweet 100 mile dinner. We have bought all our produce through SPROUTS a primarily student run organization/restaurant that hooks students up with delicious organic and sustainably grown foods.A lot of our food is coming from our very own UBC farm, which is super exciting!

The menu includes a squash and carrot soup for starters, an autumn vegetable casserole with roasted potatoes and corn on the cob for the entre and baked apples with honey for dessert!

Next month we are running a larger scale campaign called "doing it in the dark" - more to come soon!!
