Scott replied to Jordan B's discussion Anyone else interested in setting up a Village Vancouver LETS (mutual credit) system? in the group Local Economy
"Jordan, I don't know if you and others have advanced on this idea, but I'm interested in something similar, Time Banking. I thinnk the form of currency (one hour) is easier to navigate, but either way, if there is a discussion going on…"

Hi all,

I'm looking to start a Time Bank organization in East Van. Time banking is when people trade an hour of service (anything from babysitting to yardwork to teaching piano, whatever you can think of). While I'd like to keep this Time Bank local to East Van, I would also be interested in hearing from people in other parts of the city, so that we can work together to make this happen!

For more information, you can visit www.timebanks.org.

See you on The Drive,
S

Hi Scott,

Just curious to see if anything further has come of your idea.

I'm sending you an invite to join the Local Economy group. We have a new convenor, and lots of ideas floating around, and will be having a meeting soon. I think there would be a place for energy around a local time bank there.

(One idea would be to start a Time Bank group on the website that's affiliated with the Local Economy group - in the same way that there are chicken, bee, etc. groups connected to the Food Network.)

Cheers,
Ross

Hey Scott,

Welcome to Village Vancouver! I've passed along your interest to another member on the site - he lives on the westside and had previously expressed interest in the Time Bank idea.

Cheers,
Ross
