There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!): Community currency; local food initiatives

What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?: What I find most striking about Vancouver is not the bounty of lush vegetation on our encircling mountains, nor the pristine air quality and abundance of fresh sea foods. What is most notable about Vancouver to me is the complete and utter lack of interaction between peoples wherever I find myself in the city. For me, sustainability begins and ends with community, a sense of belonging and acceptance between other peoples and living things in ones environment. There is a dire lack of this sense in Vancouver, where better to start to build momentum.

I am struck by the accuracy of your comment about what in Vancouver needs to be improved. We are all like planets or stars just orbiting each other. Without honest, true, and meaningful interactions, no social progress is possible.

Welcome to what has happened with out Urban Market proposal to the city. It was presented in 2009 all the way up to the Deputy City Manager, but ultimately no one cared about the concept or treated its originators with any respect at all.

The city was too worried about selling real estate to allow anyone to produce organic food without ANY carbon footprint on unused, fallow land THAT THE CITY HAS TO PAY TO MOW EVERY WEEK!
