Kensington-Cedar Cottage
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Urban agriculture, re-localizing our economy, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient building.........! Every bit of this sounds amazing to me. I'm a fabricator/carpenter by trade and I have seen so much wast in the layout and use of potentially productive or efficient space. So much precious resources wasted driving an ineffective outsourced economy. I feel much of the local code requires quite a deal of overhaul to meet the logical demands of socially and energy conscious communities. No longer do I want to work on projects and great constructs cobbled together by nothing more than highly leveraged financial motivation, exploiting the masses insecure lust for style efficiency and estetic.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I think I touched on that in the aforesaid. Also, goats are kinda cool.
