Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Welcome to the Village, Cheryn.
And especially welcome to the Main Street 'Hood, our local Village within the Village.
Two great community events are upon us in the next 5 days.
Back by popular demand, a Jane's Walk through Mount Pleasant--focussing on lower Main Street, Vancouver's first suburb!--with architect Lewis Villegas and heritage buff Robert McNutt is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1PM at Quebec Manor, 101 East 7th (at Quebec Street!). More information is here.
If you want to know more about the history of where you live, join this low-key tour of our 'Hood, ending with an optional group coffee break to get to know people better. RAMP, the Mount Pleasant Residents Association, is hosting.
Then next Tuesday is our most popular and fun Little Mountain Neighbourhood House potluck; yes, the chickens are back! We'll be focussing on egg-layers, and egg dishes--especially those made with local, urban eggs--will certainly be encouraged for the potluck. An organic roast chicken might also make an appearance on the dinner table, just so we can debate which to eat first. Vegans will also find a great food assortment, as always.
The highlight will be a visit to a hen house literally around the corner. The seed library will be there and has been newly restocked, and a canning swap is planned to share extras from our winter stores. More information is here.
Come on out and join up with your neighbours for a great time either day.

If you have to leave your village, how will you get where you want to go? By car? Preferably not, both for your wallet and the earth’s sake. This category is for all discussions relating to how we all get around.

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
