Neighbour Savour 2 - VV's HUGE Potluck

Following on the success of NOWBC's first community-wide potluck in 2009, VV's Main Street Neighbourhood applied for a Greenest Cities Action Team grant to help offset the costs of organizing the largest neighbourhood-based potluck event in Vancouver history. NS2 took place at Heritage Hall on 4 October 2010, bringing together approximately 290 people aged 2 to 79.

Sharing food is sharing one of the most essential, personal, and resilient resources on earth: home cooking. From each according to ability, to each according to need. No one was turned away, all had their fill, and the spread was diverse, healthy, often both organic and locally grown (including from within the city itself), and transported by foot or bicycle to the hall.

Local musicians supporting the event included ErRatica, Melodious Mandolins, Redgy Blackout, Songtree, Illiteratty, and Tim Mar.

This was a no waste/no carbon event with real tableware and cups, all food scraps composted in the neighbourhood, and no trash.
