Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Hi everyone,
One of our 3 month-old pullets is actually a cockerel! He's a really pretty Barred Rock and is so far quite friendly. Does anyone have any tips for how to re-home him? We can't keep him here until he's big enough to eat as our neighbours would not like the crowing. I'd appreciate any suggestions, and I'm happy to give him away.
Best,
Arianne

You can buy and sell chickens and all kinds of other related stuff there. Even if you're not interested in selling your bird, it's an adventure that's well worth seeing.

Hi Arianne,
In the past I've put cockerels on Craigslist -- if you'd like to see him studded out and not stewed a soon as he's plump, ask $10 for him. No guarantees that he won't be used for cock-fights.

If anyone identifies anyone on CL that is using birds for cock-fighting, please let us know so we can avoid them.
Permalink Reply by Arianne Albert on August 28, 2013 at 7:24am He started trying to crow this morning! It sounds like a rusty peacock at the moment, but I nearly had a heart attack. We'll keep him in a covered rabbit cage tonight until later hours of the morning.

We have just killed our roosters once they started crowing. With the breeds we had, they were decent enough size and delicious:)
