I also have two very friendly chickens ("lap chickens") at 4th & Commercial, but I will be out of the county until to mid- to- late- June. (Once they forgive me for my long absence, I could bring them somewhere, or people are always welcome at my house to cuddle with the girls.)

You are all very welcome at my place - 2 minutes walk from Kiwassa.

We have 4 chickens and a big food garden.

I work at Kiwassa Neighbourhood House as a Food Program Coordinator and have started local food day once a month in the Daycare. I am wondering if anyone knows a backyard chicken or chicken farmer that could come and talk to the kids...maybe bring a chicken or can we come and look in your backyard??

We are at Oxford Street and Nanaimo...so we will serve chicken that day and local veggies.

If you have ideas about people or places to take the kids that would be great

Hi Everyone

Just a reminder about the nutrition workshop series at Hastings Community Centre that start this Thursday, April 14th at 10am. It's a collaborative series geared to families helping families with everything from cultural pressures on food/weight to food preservation (canning, etc) to basic gardening.

I am attaching the flyer.

Deadline to sign up for the April classes is Monday, April 11th.

Thanks,

Reanne

Hi Folks

Just to let you know that Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House has an experiential garden at Clinton Park. There are no spaces to rent or use but what we do we try to grow different things each year to get people interested and thinking outside of the box and we have speakers come in to talk about the soil and nutrients, planting, composting etc. All these are Free info sessions. If anyone is interested please email [email protected] and we can put you on our mailing list for these free garden series

I keep thinking that the London Drugs rebuild might be an opportunity to piggyback on corporate need for good feeling to garner some community gains. I envision some kind of outdoor community space - turning the green strip in the back into gardens or public art...anybody else have ideas? My inspiration is that lovely mural of an Italian square on the jewelry store.

Hi,
I'm new to Village Vancouver, and live in Hastings Sunrise.
My neighbours and I are organizing "Green Up 2010".
A community event to share green ideas and dream for the future. I'm wondering if someone would like to set up a Transition Initiative table or give a short presentation.
Please email us at [email protected]

Thanks,
Mieke
