Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

I am posting this to the Discussion wall because the VV set-up makes it difficult to respond to people if you aren't already friends with them.

Heather Talbot wrote earlier today in a message to the group:

"I'm interested in setting up a VERY informal sewing group and wanted to see if there was any interest from this group... I'm thinking along the lines of a couple of times a month people get together (maybe bring some food) and work on their sewing projects together. I have a quilt project that Ive wanted to get started on for a while and I think working with others might be the incentive I need... as well as a good way to meet people! Please let me know if you are interested :-)"

In response to that Heather - I am totally interested! How about others on here?

Thanks for posting this as a discussion, Megan. Just to clarify, Village is set up on a Ning site, and it's Ning that creates some of these difficulties. (Not that it isn't otherwise a great site in many ways.) So when someone sends a message to all members of H-S Village like Heather did, there's actually no way to reply directly. Go figure!

Posting as a discussion or a comment in H-SV goes to everyone in the village (unless they've specifically requested not to receive them) and anyone in the village can reply, so good call.

Great to see this starting. In Kits Village, there's a sew-op starting. They're looking for sewing machines. There's some stuff going on in Cedar Cottage as well.

By the way, we had a great Hastings-Sunrise Neighbourhood Food Network potluck and visioning gathering today at Templeton Pool, organized by Hastings Community Centre, Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, and Village Vancouver. Stay tuned for more details.

Cheers,
Ross

Me too!

Yes i am also interested. I have some things to fix...

I am interested but somewhat limited on time:) If your get together happens to work for me, I'm in!

Heather (or anyone),

Do you know a good source in Vancouver for quilt holders for displaying quilts without damaging them? We have a 7.25' x 5' quilt made by organic farmers on Vancouver Island that we'd like to display as part of VV's display at the Sustenance Festival at the Roundhouse next week.
