Organized by Ross Moster, Kits Village Seed Savers/Library, Main Street Village Seed Library
Beginners (9-10:30 am): will cover the basics of seedsaving focussing on annual and biennial food plants. We'll identify self-pollinators and cross-pollinators, and talk about the best seeds to start saving. We'll discuss the easiest seeds to save in small gardens and why, and how to harvest, dry and store seed. We will clean some seed. Based on the booklet, The 5 Levels of Seed Saving.
Advanced (11-12:30 am): For those who understand the basics of seedsaving. We'll discuss topics that relate to saving more challenging food plants, such as cross pollinators (squash) and biennials such as brassicas, especially as related to city gardens. Bring also your questions for an open space format, where we will address participant's seedsaving issues.
5 Levels of Seed Saving booklets will be available for purchase for $6.
Each workshop limited to 20 participants. Open to everyone - attend one or both.
