Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Mmay not know where their next meal is coming from

I'm curious to hear your responses to this:

RAJ PATEL:

…And I think that we need to have—you know, we need to refocus on that bigger issue, the issue, as you mentioned, of one in four children in the United States being food insecure, the fact that, as Finding North tells us, one in two children in the United States will, at some point in their childhood, be on an assistance program because they are hungry and because they are poor.

AMY GOODMAN: Half of children in the United States?

RAJ PATEL: At some point in their lives.

AMY GOODMAN: Half of children. According to the documentary, 50 million Americans are food insecure, this idea that they don’t know where their next meal—they may not know where their next meal is coming from.
