Workshop Description
What's on the Table? Food (in)Security and a Community Organization Response
You may have heard the term a lot lately: Food Security. But do you find yourself wondering, “What exactly is food security?” How does food create stronger communities? Special guests from Vancouver Alliance for People’s Health will facilitate this special presentation to explore the connections between food, community, culture, and food security programming. Join the Alliance for People's Health (APH) and the Food Action Collective for Transformation and Sustainability (FACTS) for an interactive presentation/discussion on food (in)security in BC. Consider the meaning of food security and ask ourselves who is food insecure in our communities? Examine Provincial and Federal data and connect the dots to social and economic marginalization. Learn about the Community Organizing and Empowerment approach of APH and FACTS and share the work that your agency/groups are undertaking. Join us for the March 1st Midtown Service Providers Network Meeting at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (2981 Main Street, at Main and 23rd).
Village engages individuals, neighbourhoods & organizations to take actions that build sustainable communities & have fun doing it. Join us!
