At 11 am, Oxfam BC-Yukon will host a screening of Food Security - It's in Your Hands
...
At 1pm The Wilderness Committee will host a screening of Dirt!

Finally, at 3pm Cinema Politica will host the movie The Garden

This is a free event, brought to you by the RFSS and all of our partners in the community.

BYOP (Bring your own popcorn)

Details of each movie are below:

Food Security - It's in Your Hands: This documentary features food producers and farmers of Vancouver Island and how they struggle to provide a continuous, healthy food supply for Island residents in the face of corporate agricultural conglomerates and a population that seems to prefer cheaper, imported food.

Dirt!: Industrial farming, mining, and urban development have endangered the soil and resulted in cataclysmic droughts, starvation, floods, and climate change. How can humans reconnect to dirt — the living skin of the Earth?

The Garden: From the ashes of the L.A. riots arose a lush, 14-acre community garden, the largest of its kind in the United States. Now bulldozers threaten its future.

Transportation

If you have to leave your village, how will you get where you want to go? By car? Preferably not, both for your wallet and the earth’s sake. This category is for all discussions relating to how we all get around.

Housing

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
