Introductory workshop. Not everyone has access to garden space in the ground, but if you have a balcony, you can grow some of your own food - and it's easier than you think!
Topic include: how to make the most of small gardening spaces, vertical gardening, options for containers, what to look for in good quality soil, companion plants, high density gardens and compact veggie varieties, and shade tolerant varieties.
As part of this workshop, we'll plant a demonstration garden for the use of the Marpole Place Kitchen where community meals are made.
The garden will also be used to teach children about growing food and provide inspiration to community members to grow their own edible gardens.
Please bring lunch, a pen, gloves and if it looks like it might rain, raingear.
FREE.
Taught by Jen Clark. Limited space, advance registration required.
See you there!
