Permaculture is the ancient art of studying Natures principles and applying her gardening techniques through systems design to human habitats. Together we will learn the basics of permaculture, and how to apply these concepts in an urban context. Students will create their own design maps for where they live and learn about the inspiring permaculture models growing around the world!
Offered as part of the Village Vancouver Transition School as part of Langara College's Sustainable Communities Summer School.
Instructors: Sara Dent & Delvin Solkinson
Sara Dent is a trained permaculture designer and organic farmer through the Linnaea Ecological Garden Programme (Cortes, BC), and permaculture educator with the Urban Permaculture Guild. She has farmed across B.C., and in Mexico. She brings her enthusiasm for organic matter and growing local, along with her training as a facilitator and community builder to permaculture education. saradent.ca, youngagrarians.org
Delvin Solkinson is a passionate permie inspired by creativity in education. He facilitates a small community garden on the Sunshine Coast celebrating food-medicine plants of the Coastal First Peoples. Delvin has a Masters in Permaculture and Education, and is a student of Bill Mollison and Rowe Morrow, as well as a certified teacher through the Permaculture Research Institute.
