Event Description

After a summer recess, the Ecological/New Economics circle will be beginning its monthly discussion circles once again this fall, with the next one on October 25th from 7pm until about 10pm (location to be announced soon).

The format of our discussion circle involves one member leading a discussion around a topic related to Ecological or New Economics that interests them and/or that they are knowledgeable about. In this way we teach each other, and very stimulating and edifying conversation has always ensued. We hope that anyone with an interest in alternatives to our current unsustainable and unstable economic system will join us.

For our next discussion circle, Jordan Bober will be leading a discussion on Open Money and community currencies, and will be joined by special guest Michael Linton, a thirty-year veteran in the field who invented the Open Money concept, founded the LETS mutual credit model which has now been copied thousands of time around the world, and has implemented several community currencies, including the Comox Valley Community Way currency.

Comment by Jordan B on October 24, 2011 at 3:06pm: Hi Cecelia, yes, the meeting location is downtown - we'll be meeting at 7pm at Trees Coffee at Granville and Hastings, then moving just down the street at 7:10 to a boardroom where we'll hold the discussion circle. We'll therefore only be about 4 blocks to where you're going dancing, so that should work out very well! Looking forward to seeing you there tomorrow!
