- I have been the head of the garden committee at Forest Grove Elementary where we have built the first edible school garden in Burnaby. Our focus is to now sustain the project and cultivate it into a viable program that connects children to nature, each other and where they are able to eat the fruits of their labour.
- There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
- I believe I can bring the knowledge and resources I have gained in creating this school project to other schools in Burnaby. My business is also focused on cooking and gardening activities for youth ages 4 and up. I have also recently connected with the Burnaby Youth Sustainability Network who have similar goals.
- What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
- We would like to continue to expand our project and ideas, breaking down barriers in the school district, expanding our garden and growing more food that the children can cook and enjoy.

Hey Barb,
So I made a booboo, and we have to change the location of the potluck / meeting this Wednesday (Jan 25th). The meeting will still take place at 6:30 pm, but it will be at the Edmonds Community Centre - 7282 Edmonds Street, Burnaby.
This is nice and close to the Edmonds Skytrain station, and easy walk. We will be in the downstairs room it sounds like, and there will be lots of room for the whole crowd (lets hope we get lots of folks).
I have been waiting to speak with a city planner about community gardens, and some other groups seem interested in what we are doing which is great, I am looking forward to getting some ideas off the ground soon.
If you can please RSVP to the event on village so I can get an idea of who will be there, find the event on the events page!

Hi Barb,
My name is Matthew, and I am part of the newly formed Village Burnaby. We are a group within the greater Village Vancouver group that wants to bring transition to Burnaby.
We are planning our second potluck for Wednesday January 25th, 2012 at the Bonsor Recreation Centre (6550 Bonsor Ave). We had an amazing first meeting, and would really like to build some momentum around the ideas discussed.
