Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
I am wondering if there is enough interest in Kitsilano to start a plastic recycling depot.
A company called Pacific Recycling Depots http://www.pacificmobiledepots.com/locations.php
accepts pretty much all plastics that the City of Vancouver doesn't take (soft plastics, styrofoam etc).
It is quite cheap to recycle ($5/large garbage bag) if you are able to bring your stuff to
Britannia Community Centre on Commercial Dr. They would however pick up from Kitsilano if
we can gather enough plastics, i.e. at least six large garbage bags worth of plastic $30 worth.
Therefore it is quite common for neighbourhood groups to arrange a common pick up, i.e.
neighbours meet once a month a day or so before pick up and gather all the plastics in
big garbage bags. Then one person keeps the bags until they get picked up.
I think we would need about 10 households to be involved. The next pick up is Dec 9th. Please let me
know if you are interested in being involved. You can e-mail me at hansen@zoology.ubc.ca
Thanks,
Malin

Hmm... I wonder why the text got cut off in the above discussion. Any ideas how I could edit it to make it readable? Anyway, e-mail me at hansen@zoology.ubc.ca if you are interested in starting a plastic recycling pick up in Kits.

I have been talking to Doug Taylor at the Kits Community Centre about the Britannia program. He is very interested. Perhaps we could set up the depot there and have a regular pick up as they do at Britannia.
Hey Malin,
Is this the full text? Hoping it will be easier to read.
Cheers,
Ross
