Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

I spoke to  Brian Campbell today.  We are wondering if any/all of the VV Beekeeping members would be interested in starting an Association of some kind.
Brian has agreed to be the "expert" so actual meetings, would be beneficial to all of us.
Thoughts?

I'm thinking about a non-profit entity such as a club or an association, like the Richmond Beekeepers
Association. They are non-profit, meet monthly, have an AGM, dues are $20 per year, etc,
This sounds great. Myself and 5 others started hives and this is our first winter; we would love to meet others in the neighborhood and share knowledge and good times!
Count me in.

I would like to join but I need face to face interaction, I'm a "net-peasant" & I cannot negotiate my way around all the sites.

I have a hive (would like a second & my neighbour has one) but the guy that used to look after them vanished in the fall & I don't even know if he left them food for the winter before he disappeared !

We're in Kits.

Hi Thomas;  Is there any activity from the hive?  On warm sunny days are bees flying to and fro?  Do you mind if I come and have a look?  Do you know who the beekeeper is or have a way of contacting him?  Sorry for all the questions, just concerned about the bees. Brian

I have seen no activity but the hive is at the bottom of the garden where I don't spend much time in winter :)  Our beekeeper was Kent Major  but he seems to have vanished without trace !

I would be THRILLED if you could come & take a look.  I THINK I would like to learn to look after them (& my neighbour's) myself !

Thomas

if you e-mail me at tddelahooke@shaw.ca I'll give you my phone # ............ not quite sure how I feel about putting it out there for the world to see (although it IS in the phone book ! :)
Count me in!

Hello again:  I was just at a meeting of the Richmond Beekeepers Association and there were several VV Beekeeping folks there.  That club has a very large membership now, and I think it would be difficult for many of the vancouver group to get to meetings which are held at the Richmond Nature Park Pavilion.  Further to my enquiry of starting a club for Vancouver Beekeepers, there are now 11 people who have shown an interest in doing this.  Brian Campbell is taken as a president now, but if we talked nice to him, perhaps he would attend one of our meetings and give us some of his great advice. At the Richmond meeting there is usually a talk or presentation or slide show and we always come away having learned something.

Those of you who are still interested, please email me at: kpandrew55@yahoo.ca and we could meet to get started.

Best regards to all, Karen Andrew

Hey Karen,

I was at the Richmond meeting the other night... I'm sorry I didn't get over to talk to you, but I would be interested in a Vancouver group.  I live on the North Shore and Richmond is a bit of a trek!  I would appreciate if you keep me posted.

Cheers!

Count me in as well.
Hi Karen, I just wanted to let you know that there is a meetup group in Vancouver called Honeybee-Keeners http://www.meetup.com/Honeybee-Keeners/.  Perhaps some of their members would be interested in a Vancouver beekeeping club too.
