Tipping Point Action Proposal in Contest at MIT Climate CoLab Crowdsourcing Platform

The Community Peacebuilding and Cultural Sustainability (CPCS) Initiative (www.cpcsc.info) now has a proposal ("Tipping Point Action: Citizen Participation in Times of Unprecedented Challenges") in a contest at the MIT Climate CoLab Platform. The Tipping Point Action Proposal is entered in the "Shifting Behavior for a Changing Climate" contest.

There are opportunities to comment on the Tipping Point Action proposal--and to give it a "thumbs up" vote. And there are opportunities to comment and vote on the many other proposals in the 16 different contests. There is also about two months left to submit proposals in any one of the 16 categories. Beginning on July 21, experts will select finalists. Winners in each of the contests will be selected by CoLab members, and by judges. One of the contest winners will receive $10,000 prize money. All contest winners will have the opportunity to present their proposal to potential "start up" partners, and potential financial supporters.

Here is the overview of the “Shifting Behavior for a Changing Climate” contest:

“Climate change is a big deal. Unfortunately, the seriousness and scale of the problem can sometimes create complexity, confusion, indecision, and ultimately, inaction. Behavior is shaped to a large extent by the dominant values, social norms, and attitudes of our society, but these forces aren’t well-aligned to the long-term, often subtle impacts of climate change. To combat this global problem, we need your ideas: How do we shift public perceptions of climate change? How do we promote concrete pro-environmental norms and attitudes? How do we turn inertia into action and encourage people to live more sustainably? How do we get the public energized in solving climate change? We're looking for proposals that are fresh, innovative, and ACHIEVABLE -- ideas that are sustainable over the long term, and can be replicated in communities around the world. Click here for contest details.”

Here are all 16 contest categories:

Crowdsourcing for Disaster Risk Management, Urban Resilience: Climate Actions for Urban Areas; Adaptation to Climate Change; Geoengineering; U.S. Carbon Price; U.S. Government; Consumption of Products & Services; Waste Management; Land Use: Agriculture, Livestock & Forestry; Industry; Buildings; Transportation; Energy Supply; Creating public demand for green buildings; Shifting behavior for a changing climate; Contest Suggestions

I encourage readers of this message to visit the "Tipping Point Action" proposal at the "Shifting Behavior in a Changing Climate" contest at http://climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/1300210 --and at its specific address at http://climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/1300210/p... ... and I encourage readers of this message to comment on the proposal, and give it a "thumbs up" if you support it, and believe it would create significant positive momentum in overcoming the global warming/climate change challenge.

In addition to the Tipping Point Action proposal at the MIT Climate CoLab Contest Platform, there is a comprehensive overview of the Tipping Point Action Campaign provided by the “Press Kit for the Tipping Point Action Campaign”, at http://cpcsc.info/press-kit/ .
