If you don't live in Vancouver or are in another neighbourhood or community we did not list, please tell us where home is.

Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
sustainability, small house construction, soalr power, energy conservation, co-op housing, organic living and gardening, beekeeping, chemical free living, good food, good people
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
vermiculture, organic gardening, nutritional excellence
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
Yes

Welcome Cindy!

As you can see, we are just beginning to build an on-line community for Village Vancouver, and organize our extensive activities more openly and collaboratively through this site. Please feel free to contribute to a discussion, attend or even enter a new event, contribute to a working group, and join a Village.

Right now in our area, the Main Street Neighbourhood is the local "Village" closest to us in Douglas Park. We just had a potluck dinner picnic in QE Park last week, and we have been seed-sharing, backyard-produce-sharing, and building raised beds for each other since the beginning of the year. We are planning a large community "harvest" potluck in the fall at Heritage Hall, with music, dancing, and activities for all ages. We are also hoping to launch an energy audit program this fall for VV members to help cut energy costs over the winter. Check out our Group page under the "Villages" navigation Tab above or click on this link.

Also, please update your home page with some brief comments about your interests or a short bio. This will help us all connect with people with similar interests in sustainability, or other activities. Maybe find a nice photo to upload, too. :-) Your interest in vermiculture is great given the incredibly poor soil left in this area after decades of lawn monoculture.

Our next Village potluck get-together will likely be in the 3rd week of August, but meanwhile look for events to take part in, and never hesitate to drop me a line or connect with anyone on the site whose background interests you.
