"Hello all, I’m new to the village, am interested in permaculture and native plants. I would like some words of wisdom to help transform my space. Any new events coming up? Ken"

Permaculture Village

Transition is based on, and inspired by,  Permaculture principles. Permaculture is permanent agriculture and permanent culture. We will be approaching 'creating sustainable habitat' in many different ways: regular design & demonstration projects; Social permaculture; workshops. Permablitzes, Blitzes or Permaculture Energy Transfer or Pet Day are days that we go on site collectively create systems which cycle energy toward win win win economy. In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Champlain Heights
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
I’m interested in permaculture and educating the community on food production and sustainable living. I’d like to learn more about everything...
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I’m interested in community gardening with Village Vancouver, Norquay community food forest. I’m just learning about gardening and am quite motivated. I’ve probably got more questions than answers at this point.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I’m wanting to turn my green space into a food forest like The Norquay garden. I’d like it to be an open space for people to explore the possibilities.
I’m wondering if people in this group would like to take on this project with me to make this happen.
