Specifically, providing space and momentum for communities to recreate and re-skill themselves on their own terms and observing their own needs, not a conventional developer's plan and budget.
We're creating a semi-rural ecovillage outside of Victoria where we're striving do just that and will serve as a resource for other communities to do the same. Living, workable models are what people need to find their way in the transition movement.
- There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
- As I live on Vancouver Island, the best way for me to support Transition Vancouver initiatives is by mutual support on the NING. I imagine I'll be able to take part in the occasional event in Vancouver as well :)
- What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
- The creation of intentional communities and ecovillages.
