Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Grandview-Woodland
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
All of the above haha
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Gardening, I'm open to other volunteer opportunities. I have a very limiting schedule but would love to help out when I can.
I agree to read and abide by the Site Guidelines under the About tab on the navigation bar, remaining respectful in all communications on this web site.

Don't feel like answering all the questions now? No worries, just tell us briefly why you're interested in joining at this time, and you can come back and update your profile later.
Starting to get curious about urban sustainability and thought this would be a good place to start. And would like to live more environmentally conscious and have that movement continued into my community.

Jodie,

Welcome to Village Vancouver and the Grandview Woodland Village.

As you can see, we are continuing to build this on-line community for Village Vancouver, and organize our wide-ranging activities more openly and collaboratively through this site. Please feel free to contribute to a discussion, attend or even enter a new event, and join a working group, or a Village.

Also, when you have time, please update your home page ("My Page") regularly with some brief comments about your interests or a more full bio. This will help us all connect with people with similar interests in sustainability, or any other activities. Maybe find a nice photo to upload, too. :-)  Your humor is much appreciated, so please keep that up.

You are closest to what we call the grandview woodland village, your local, walkable village under the umbrella of Village Vancouver.  You can find out more about is happening near you by joining your village page here.

We are active beekeepers and many members also have chickens.  We are also working to establish a new collaborative community garden in Woodland Park, which is a new model not based entirely on individual plots but with greater collaboration across the whole space for a sharing the produce.  Market gardens are another model to check out, and we hope to establish one in the neighbourhood someday as well.

There's lots to get involved in, but we're an all-volunteer organization, so some individual initiative is needed.  When time allows, Jordan Bober and Cabot Lyford are active in organizing events in your village.
