In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?

Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Urban food production, I
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
am studying permaculture with Delvin on the sunshine coast. Into tree preservation. Am almost graduated from the Kwantlen Hort program, wanting to work in Arboriculture. I'm also a photographer. I renovated a house for 10 years, managing the whole project myself including the financial management, doing the designing and much of the work. I am pretty handy!
I am also a pretty good landscape designer, I use Dynascape software for my work. I am currently designing a community garden as a project for the Kwantlen University. I have a portfolio and would volunteer my skills to help with community projects.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I would like to see an increased focus on the structural training of young trees and tree preservation. As it stands trees in the city live a very short life, mostly due to budget restrictions. I want to put some thought into some sort of project, but need to get my arb. certification before I could act on it.
I want to see children growing food, I would love to be a part of any project dealing with this.
I agree to read and abide by the Site Guidelines under the About tab on the navigation bar, remaining respectful in all communications on this web site.

Don't feel like answering all the questions now? No worries, just tell us briefly why you're interested in joining at this time, and you can come back and update your profile later.
Community health is vital and I want to be involved.

Hi Heidi

Welcome to VV.

I have an opportunity to work with the Dunbar Business Improvement Association on a planting program they are keen to implement focused on the trees. They want to beautify the streets in the commercial area and have the idea of planting veggies, herbs and companion plants. Would you be interested in getting involved. Sounds like you've got the right combination of skills.

Cheers

Ann Pacey (VV board and coordinator of the Dunbar Transition Village)
