Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Community building, Wild Crating/Local or Wild Medicinal plants, Potlucks, Barter/Trades, Perserving/Fermenting, Homesteading, Having Fun while saving the World!
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Well, I recently moved into Vancouver this past October so I'm feeling a fresh sense of enthusiasm to discover more about what Vancouver's communities have to offer, share and collaborate with.
Recently, I helped out at the New Economy Convention. It was such a neat way to have a sneak peak at a lot creative ideas shared by people offering initiative to bridge together a Common-unity. I also made a connection with Rueben George, Sundance Chief and Member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. He is truly an inspiration. I know a big interest of mine is to get to know more about the Indigenous community here.
I come from food and holistic health background. My latest studies have involved Ayurveda and Holistic Health.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I envision starting where I am currently nesting. I occupy a simple home environment with seven other beings. Three which come from abroad and the rest I know of from my latest work this past summer. We all share a common goal, to live and harmonize together and each of us definitely have qualities to offer into this home. I believe that in order to have an influence in this world, it needs to start with the self and one's domestic environment. We recently built a chicken coop and finally got four chickens yesterday, we're all excited about this. Not just for eggs but more so to practice, in routine, living closer to animals...especially in this urban realm, where the presence of animals may seem like a scarcity.
