In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Grandview-Woodland
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
I am interested in many things, but I would have to say that my primary Transition interests lie in food, energy and local economics. I have a Master's degree in Economics and have actually written my thesis on local currencies, so this is something that I would especially be interested in helping pursue here in Vancouver.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I would especially be interested in working on an economic working group, or one having to do with food (I am an avid cook/baker).
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I think that a good start would be to cut down on all the paper coffee mugs people use and throw away each day. Imagine the difference if most people were to switch to reusable mugs!

Hi Jordan, thanks for the warm welcome!  I'll definitely check out the open money videos and all the other initiatives that abound on this website.  I'm really glad to have found this community as I've been reading a lot lately about local food, permaculture, renewable energy, etc. and am eager to get settled in Vancouver and start practicing some of this stuff.
