If you don't live in Vancouver or are in another neighbourhood or community we did not list, please tell us where home is.
Burnaby, BC
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Urban agriculture, food sustainability and access to food as well as organic growing and community building are my main interests. As well, teaching and empowering children to grow there own veggies. I have opened my garden to the local grade three class where they are growing potatoes, carrots, peas & lettuce! I am also putting pressure on the Burnaby School board to allow me and the principal to install a sustainable organic garden at the elementary school...it's not been easy.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Yes. I have 12 yrs orgainic growing experience and a successful organic garden and berry patch.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I would like to see less fear for new (old!) ideas and more support for sustainable living. Clean energy would be nice.

Ha ha ha, Nicole!  Speaking of tomatoes, I recently received some of the seeds I ordered- including wild tomatoes, currant tomato, and another neat heirloom one :)  I'm itching to start them!

    Hi Nicole,

Like-wise! When can Sunita and I come over to see what you do with your garden, permaculture, the school groups etc?

    Hi Nicole,

Not sure if you got my email, so I'll try this:  Sunita and I could plan to drop over for a visit between 11 and 11:30 am this coming Saturday morning, if that works for you. She has an appointment earlier in the morning and expects to be home by 10:30, so we will leave when she gets home.

Could you please send your address?

    Thanks,
    Ruth
