Hi Ross, Glad to be friends :-) Happy to see other good folks on the list, Karen Hodgson, for example! I'm off again, lucky me, kayaking in the Charlottes, so there won't be much action from me right now, but I'm very happy to report that my HHFs, Philip Be'ers new venture, (check 'em out at http://www.homeharvestfarms.com) are doing well, so there's good news on the urban agriculture and sustainable food fronts!
Yes that would be great- Id love to hear about what's currently going on and ways I could get involved! Im free most weekdays at the moment so just let me know a good time :-)
Thanks for the clarification, Ross. I wish I were better at maneuvering around these kind of web sites but I get lost trying to find my way. Technology is definitely not my strong point. LOL! But I'm happy to learn. Really looking forward to more meet-ups and workshops. Too bad I missed the class on growing food on your balcony. I didn't see the post until after the event. If you ever need a volunteer to help set up or clean-up, just give me a call or send me an email, okay, Ross? Thanks again for helping Vancouverites to become skilled in resiliency. :-) Karen
Ross, after I talked to you, I visited the website but don't know how to sign up for the potluck. If you know, please tell me ASAP so that I can do it.
Hi Ross! So glad you got to try some of the kefir. I've got more if Mary hasn't given you some to make your own. :) I've also got a kombucha scoby or two that can be passed on if you're interested.
Unfortunately I'm not going to make the potluck this Sunday though! I'm on a train down to California to visit my family for the holidays and will be somewhere along the coast of southern California when you guys are meeting. So sorry to miss out, but I'll be back after the holidays and hopefully we can organize something....stone soup?
Awesome - its an honor to be here - Robin has talked so highly of you for years - what a beautiful initiative this web platform is, reflecting an awesome and powerful real world community!
Thanks, Ross! I'm still pretty new to VV (just learned about it at the CoDev film fest a few weeks ago) and am trying to figure out how to use the website. I haven't seen how to accept the group invite but hopefully I'll get there soon. ;) I'm a total newbie to this world and am looking forward to becoming more involved!
Hi Ross, I was planning another recycling depot, but it depends on if someone is able to host. I will have to ask around. Also, last time we JUST got enough to make it worth it so perhaps we should be looking at doing them every other month instead. I will have to think about this.
Hello, I am new, like what I see and would like to be involved. I am new to computer as well barely 2 months. I live in Kits, and want to be more social and involved my interests are organic food gardening, better health and to be more aware of my community and become more involved environmentally. I have to pace myself as I have some health issues. Not sure what the e-mail was for today.
Hi Ross, Thanks for thinking of me! I am back in Ontario for the summer but looking forward to getting involved with Village Vancouver this fall. Have a great summer! Cheers, Hannah
I have organic milk kefir available for sharing. I don't know enough about this computer routine to go about getting the wordd out on this community websdite. Any help will be appreciated. Thanx, Gisela
A friend of mine is doing a doc. on extreme oil and would like find some example of transition towns in the works to include in his film. He mentioned one in Whitby WA, but I can't seem to find it. Have you heard of it?
I would like to keep chicken in my backyard and would like some advice. I believe we have a community of backyard chicken people in Kits - how would I get in touch with them. Looking fwd to being an active member of this group!
If you are able to put me in touch with others who have done something similar to what I propose (orchard on the blvd), plse put me in touch with them. Many thanks, Wendy in Marpole
Hello Ross, thanks for your welcome! I am also curious to touch base about new gardens and how I can help out. I am still getting oriented on this website, but perhaps you could point me in the right direction to find out more?
I have a 17 year old son and his friend who are in Grade 12 and he wants to learn how to build boxes for raised garden beds. I am looking for a mentor for them. Do you know of someone who could help them get started? Lori
Hi Ross,
I'd love to attend! I tried emailing you last weekend but neither that not RSVPing through the eve the seems to work for me. Hope you get this!
Best, Heidi
Hi Ross, yes you are right, I was at the seed gathering, and I think we were both in the Seed saving for native plants workshop. I also work with Emmanuel Prinet and he talked to me about Village Vancouver. I will join you on the 6th for the Slow food event. Let me know if you need help on that day! Stéphanie
Thanks for the message! I would definitely be interested in hearing more about the gardening opportunities. And as for this Sunday, I'm not sure if I would be able to help, but if you could send me some more info, maybe I could drop by for a bit?
Thanks for all the information! I would like to get involved, but tomorrow actually I will not be in Kits so will not be able to join the seed packet work party. I will keep up to date with the events page though and hopefully join you at the next opportunity.
Hope you had a good day gardening today - the weather was beautiful! =)
