In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Kitsilano
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Potlucks, encouragement to bike more; gardening; composting, arts and celebrations - more parties and parades, please!
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I support and encourage community connections, especially "hyper-local" - within a few blocks of trafifth (5th & Trafalgar).
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I like the City's focus on greenest city and also the neighbourhood focus. It's great that the Vancouver Foundation have extended their neighbourhood small grants to the westside - it supports people like me - and probably you - to do some community building without trying to scrape $$ together or ask for contributions.

Thanks for the welcome Mary! My real home is actually Vancouver, and I'm going to be transitioning back from Seattle over the next few months (I have a job interview on Monday)...so you may see me sooner than later!
Cabot posted a comment for you regarding the next RL meeting (tonight), but wasn't sure if you'd see it. I let him know that he could also post it here and you'd get it. (But know you know and can check it out on the event post!)
Mary, I hope this comment gets to you. We haven't talked yet about closing the circle, although this might happen soon. As I learn about how this process works, I am certain that I will want to start another circle for those who are interested. You are welcome to come tonight (May 2). Email me directly for up to date info: cabot at telus dot net.
I can definitely share some more kefir with you. If you're not using them I think that they can be chilled in the fridge (for up to a month at least) or frozen or dried (although, I've never personally tried either of these two options).
Unfortunately I've been out of town for the last 5 weeks, so my kefir have been dormant and need to be revived. I wish I could bring something to Car Free Day in Kits, but I just don't have anything right now. I'll let you know when there are some grains to share though!
It was great to meet you too, Mary! I'm glad I got to go to one of the potlucks. :-) I'm looking forward to many more wonderful community gatherings. :-)
Hi, Mary. :-) Thanks so much for following up. I ended up having out of town guests for those few days so had to cancel a few things. Looking forward to future events such as that one. Thanks again! Karen :-)
Hi, Mary. Thanks for the message and the invite to come to the pot-luck! Sounds good, I will just need to see how my week shapes up. Your name is familiar to me too...not sure how we know each other, through community grants perhaps? We'll figure it out. :)
Oh shoot, I will not be able to make it on the 29th after all! "Need" to go to Pender Island for the long weekend with my children and we'll leave that night -- tough life, I know! Still, I am very keen to attend some "Green Cleaning" gatherings...my husband and I run an eco-store on W Broadway (Gecko Green Living) so I love to get new ideas and "spread the word". Have a great evening!

Hi Mary,
You might also want to post the 5th Ave micro-village announcement as a new discussion or comment, so more Kits Villagers are aware of it.
Cheers,
Ross
