In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Kitsilano
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
urban agriculture, guerrilla gardening, permaculture, native plants, seasonal harvests, seed saving, beekeeping, community-building, environmental peacebuilding, less consumption, exchange, etc.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Am interested in learning more about urban agriculture, permaculture, local native plants and foods, seed saving, beekeeping, sewing (transforming old clothes), etc. My background is in environmental law and peace parks (bringing communities together for conservation and environmental peacebuilding), more than willing to share any of that knowledge.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
Too new to Vancouver to say....sorry!

Just want to be a part of the city I've just moved to....and in a good way.
I am looking for some water kefir grains. My mother and I started making our own yogurt and then branched into milk kefir. When I was in France a lady I stayed with introduced me to water kefir and I feel in love with it. Do you have any water kefir grains to share? If so, that would be wonderful. Thanks Zoa
Hi Elaine,
Do you still have water grains to share?
I just got some milk grains, but my daughter is dairy free and I'd like to have her try the water kefir.
Hi Elaine, I was wondering if you still had any water kefir and/or kombucha grains to share? I took a class on making fermented beverages recently and am really looking forward to trying it at home. Thanks!! Lisa (My email is: vinochic@shaw.ca)
Hi, Elaine, you're becoming the kefir lady. I let mine die after a few weeks of rampant enthusiasm. Can I get some more from you some day? Any chance you're free next Sat June 16 and could bring some to the Kits trafalgar block party - for sharing and tasting?
Yes, I am still interested in getting some water kefir grains. I've acquired some milk grains and really love them! But my daughter is Dairy free, so I would like to have some for her too. I am okay for Kombucha scobies. I read up on how to make your own and have since made some whoppers! Thank you.

Hi Elaine,
Welcome to Village Vancouver and to Kits Village! Kits Village is having a potluck on the 25th, and we hope you will attend. You can RSVP here.
I would also be interested in talking to you about the peace park idea and ways that you might possibly get involved in Village projects.
Cheers,
Ross

Hey Elaine,
I was over at Mary's for the lantern making potluck and had some of the kefir drink. Really interesting taste - a good drink for the holidays.
The next Kits Village potluck (along with some discussion about what we want to do in 2012) is this Sunday, hope you can make it.
Cheers,
Ross
