Hey there! Did I put all my food-related prejudice on something VV-related, or has it leaked over from my UrbanSpoon profile? I didn't think I had blathered so much on VV. I haven't heard of Chowhounds before. Personally, I'm pleased with Terra for breads across all categories, and my wife and I have been picky bread-heads in cities all over the world.

As far as the New York Times, ha! We picked up the Sunday edition two times since we got here, but $10+ for a paper doesn't cut it. It's a shame that Canada has a rightwing newspaper monopoly with CanWest, which means I don't read the local paper (on paper, at least) unless I can get it for free. At least in Australia, where every major business area is essentially a duopoly, there were competing newspapers in every capital city run by the mildly leftish Fairfax group vs. the Hunnishly right NewsCorp (Murdoch's mob.) The real news is online anyway.

Anyway, we hope to meet more Main Street area folks at future potlucks and such. We're good cooks and good talkers. (Not as tendentiously leftwing as I might come across here.)

    Hi Ross,
I'm not yet back in Vancouver but will be in early November. I live in the Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood. I'm curious to know, why do you ask?

    Cheers,
    Alexandra

It was great to meet up with you Ross. So good to be able to put a face to the name. I really think it is great what you are doing with Village Vancouver.

Thanks very much for the welcome. I look forward to meeting some people in the community, and am especially hopeful a practicing beekeeper might be interested in a volunteer helper (me) in exchange for the education of the experience. Happy New Year to you all!

Thanks for asking. I'm actually just in the transition of re-locating to Vancouver from Calgary. I've been involved in a new company that is looking at setting up bio-regional based green building systems using organic hemp & flax fibres and making them into bio-composite type materials--we are setting up an office in Vancouver for the fall. I'm really interested in permaculture, local living economy movements, and the outdoors. If you know of any good places I could check out where there are like-minded people, please let me know.
