Organic straw & feed - Orders due Feb 9
Hello all,
Last year I think we emailed people directly instead of posting here, but if you have chickens and need straw and feed, this is what we've been doing.
We order the organic layer (16% protein) feed through Cedar Isle Farm (the Urban Grains CSA flour grower) and they bundle it up, with organically grown straw (from the wheat that makes the flour) and ship it to one drop-off point in Vancouver. Buyers pick it up (promptly) and pay cash and we all have happy laying hens.
Delivery usually happens mid-week and since the pallets occupy a lot of space, prompt pick-up is really important. If you could order enough to see you through 2 - 2.5 months, we will try to order once every two months, so we can rely on the co-op to meet our needs.
Organic Straw bales $7/each
20kg bag organic feed $12.-13/each (price to be confirmed)
Delivery charge $50.00 = split per # of people in the order
Last order, Jim sent out some samples of rolled oats and wheat treats for the hens to try. Please indicate if you would like to order some and we'll contact Jim and figure how big a bag and the cost.

We don't yet have a depot in place, so if you are able to offer a covered dry space that can hold two large pallets, please let me know. (I am working on a location now, but it may or may not pan out).
Orders are DUE by Wednesday, February 9th by midnight. Delivery will follow one week later, generally on a Thursday by 8am.
If you have any questions, please comment below. If someone wants to set up a car-pool delivery board on village vancouver, that would be great! The drop location under consideration is near Clark & 2nd.

Our coop is almost ready, we're hoping to pick up hens in April. We'd like to have all the straw and feed ready before then! When is your next order?
