Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Hi,

VV is looking for places where straw could be delivered for pickup in a neighbourhood. (So we all don't drive out to somewhere "far away" to pickup a bale or two.)

Also for suppliers. (Farm direct would be great.)

I'm consulting with my chicken coop partner about this.
I am in West Vancouver off the #1 Hwy- 15th Street exit.
Fellow VanVillagers,

I've got a couple extra bales on the Northshore if you are looking...
I can bring'em to a VV event when our paths cross or pickup for locals.

Yee.
I know someone who wants a couple. What's their pedigree?
Oat or Barley hay....one or the other...sorry I forgot but I can find out if it's important.
It comes from the fields of Blue Heron Farm and their neighbouring farm.

They raise horses and was grown last year for feed and she says it was not sprayed, but not organic per say.

Just let me know if you want some... I actually can spare up to four or five.
I would ask 3 dollars or some form of exchange per bale.

Yee.
Hi Silvi,

At the moment, I'm looking for new sources.

These are things that need to be worked out with whoever is receiving. For instance, a straw order might be a pallet (12 bales), or it might be more, or less, depending on how many people are ordering from the neighbourhood. Depending on where it's coming from, the delivery charge might get smaller per bale if there are more orders.

In terms of time, it also needs to be worked out with the person receiving. For instance,
one could say in advance "Delivery is coming on Tuesday morning. Here are the times when you can pick up your order: Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm; Wednesday morning from 10-noon."

Does this answer your questions?
Hi Silvi,

Great! I'm going to devote some time to tracking down suppliers after the Folk Fest. (Are you going? We have a double booth there.)

Cheers,
Ross
I have room for several bails, but probably only if it is picked up on the same day. 4th & Commercial.
