Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 13. 5:30-6:30 pm potluck followed by the formal prepared discussion 6:30-8:30 pm at Bear Creek Park (by the northeast entrance).
If attending please register: http://www.villagevancouver.ca/events/future-of-village-surrey-4th-...
In this meeting we will continue discussion of the issues of 1) How to make Village Surrey Transparent and Decentralized, and 2) Basic Transition Projects will be continued.
Minutes from the last meetings are available for members. Please study these beforehand for a constructive dialogue and contribution.
Leftovers from last meeting that have not been discussed due to lack of time:
A) More detailed discussion of these documents (cited in Transition Initiative Totnes) that specifically target starting a transition initiative:
Transition Primer:
www.transitionnetwork.org/files/TransitionInitiativesPrimer%283%29.pdf">http://www.transitionnetwork.org/sites/www.transitionnetwork.org/files/TransitionInitiativesPrimer%283%29.pdf
The Five-Fold Path of Productive Meetings (A Guide for Collaborative Groups):
http://www.starhawk.org/Empowerment_Five-Fold-Path.pdf
Transition Totnes will be used as an example for practical implementation:

B) Defining Membership (rights / privileges vs. responsibilities), the Meeting Process (organizing, structuring, facilitating), Basic Transition Projects (building a transitional community). Specifically the above documents will be used to critically discuss the Common Principles of Transition Movement and their specific application.
C) Creating a template for minutes, including rules for naming the file, and deciding on a good way to store them for easy review. This is important in order to keep the documents well organized and transparent for all members, and make it easy to join in for new members.
D) Continue to establish a commonly shared email / contact list.
We encourage carpooling and alternative ecologically-sensible transportation (biking, etc.).
For those who would like to attend but find location and/or time inconvenient, please let us know. We will always try to set meeting times and location to be most accessible for everyone. Constructive suggestions are most welcome.
Looking forward to see you,
Behrouz
