Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Hi Strathcona Villagers,
Village Vancouver's 1st ever Meetup is happening in Strathcona on Monday evening (Jan 24)! There will time to meet other VV members and to discuss what we'd like to be doing in our respective Transition neighbourhoods.
Since it's being held in Strathcona, we'd especially like to get as many members of Transition Strathcona attending as possible. A few of you have already RSVPed, so it's a good opportunity for you to meet one another and start making plans in your village (part of the evening will be spent in neighbourhood breakout groups), and Strathcona member Emi has expressed interest in helping things get moving.
I know most of you, and I think there's the makings of a really good village and neighbourhood food network here. Jamie and Milisa, the Food Security Coordinators at the Community Centre are members, which is one reason we decided to hold it here. (Thanks M&J!) Alexis, Andrew, and others are forming a seed collective (meets this Saturday, see events page) and I know at at least of couple of you are urban farmers or urban homesteaders - there will be a segment on Urban Farming, and, if someone wants to mention the seed collective during the Neighbourhood Food Network presentation, let me know.
A number of you are also Permaculturists, which is great; many of you probably know that the Transition Movement has strong roots in Permaculture, and it would be cool to integrate Permaculture principles into Strathcona's mix as well.
More details are below, and in the event posting.
Looking forward to seeing you there! And my apologies for the last minute posting here.
Be well,
Ross

Hey Alexis,
Sounds good. You can at least meet other Strathcona villagers during the potluck, and perhaps someone else from seeds or the village can make the announcement later.
We've realized that 6:30 is too late to start for parents with small children. Different villages will be organizing the meetup each month and so fuure start times might vary, but we will encourage an earlier start. (Six, or perhaps even earlier.)
See you then.
Ross
